Snowfall Total And Winter Storm Warning

Woke up this morning and found 6 new inches of snow and it is bitter cold.  I also noticed that the National weather service finally decided to go with a winter storm warning for my area.

Convergence zone expected to form this afternoon with another possible 3+ inches expected.  The winds should also be a factor thus expect Blowing/Drifting snow.   Travel will be very hard today, so if you dont have to travel, Dont.

Picture update coming later.  Will submit photos to KIDK as well, so be sure to watch News at 6 and 10.

The Snow Is Falling

Current SnowHere is a Picture of the latest snow.  Thus far a new total of 1″ on the ground.  The snow is Moderate to heavy, but not ratting at 1 inch or more per hour.  Hopefully the snow continues.  The weather channel indicates up to a foot of snow by friday morning.  Will cross my fingers that they are right.

The radar does indicate a large swath of moisture with Mostly Moderate to heavy snowfall.  No Mixing occured and temps will continue to drop.

Well folks, I have finally found a Blog system that I like and is fully “Code Validated”.  Be patient with the header,  Im still trying to figure out how I can Implement the Header from the main page.  If you like the header, let me know, otherwise I will keep figuring out how to change it.

—Weather News—

The Huge Mass of Arctic air is just around the corner and a storm that is expected tonight into Friday could take aim over Southeast Idaho and DUMP snow up to a foot.  When you thought the Cold air was going to ruin your week, here comes news about a possible Big snow Maker and the latest about the Strong Winds during this Arctic air intrusion which could make for minus 30 wind chills.  Makes me shiver just thinking about it.  The Storm that arrives this evening will stall over Southeast Idaho and Winds from the north will stir up a Convergence zone.  This convergence zone could allow for up to a foot of snow and the current thoughts are Snow amounts tonight anywhere from 2-4 inches and Then thursday will be the big snow accumulation day with 4-6 inches possible.  I do hope this pans out and the storm dumps more than expected.  That will be great.  Stay Tuned….

Weather Update

It has been awhile since I updated on this blog.  The latest work of Directory submissions and SEO work has kept me very busy.  Now on the weather.
ARCTIC Air Intrusion———–
Latest weather info from NWS Pocatello indicates an Arctic Mass of Air moving south from Canada into Our area.  This mass of extremely cold air will drop our temperatures dramatically.  This will be the first recorded Arctic Air intrusion since Winter began and will be noticed By Many people ranging from Oregon to California and all the way to the Great Lakes region.  For our area, it looks as temps will drop into the Teens for daytime highs and Low will range anywhere from Lower Single Digits to minus 7 readings.  It will be very cold start Wednesday evening and this blast looks to last into the weekend.
Snow Discussion——–

Snow really hasnt been an issue for our area yet.  It seems every “Major” storm dumps its contents over Oregon, then comes over us either with too much of a subtropical tap to bring mostly rain or there is just not enough moisture when it is cold enough.  The suprising factor is the Snow that fell the Weeek of Christmas week is still on the ground for the most part.  This leads me to Believe that temps have not been high enough (obviously) and even with the amount of rain we recieved, the snow hardly melted.  It does appear that Tuesday/Wednesday there could be snow showers over our area.  Thus far it only seems to be a minor snowfall event which is usually indicative of 1-2 inches of new snow.  Im not sure about you,  But I know that I eventually want a Blizzard.  Having lived in Southern California for over 20 years and never recieved snow there.  Living here at the 4800 foot range youd think there would be more snow that we have recieved this year or let alone for the past 3 years.  Talking to Local Residents I found that the last significant snow storm (5 feet+) occured over 11 years ago in the year 1995.  Since then I have heard it has been relatively drier and warmer.  I will cross my fingers for now and hope for a Major snowstorm like Colorado recieved.  Eventually it will happen.  When is the big question…..
Well stay tuned as always.  Be sure to check out the latest Wallpapers in our gallery and have a great week.
